Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)

We offer three levels of ATS solutions to maximize your system’s performance.

Level 1

  • Review equipment records
  • Inspect and tighten interior wiring and components
  • Clean and inspect enclosure exterior and interior
  • Check and record normal and emergency source voltage
  • Perform functional tests
  • Infrared thermal scanning
  • Documentation provided including services performed and recommendations

Level 2

  • Tighten all bus connections
  • Inspect, clean and polish contacts
  • Check and measure linkage, mounting hardware, heim joints, interlock rod, and handle bracket
  • Lubricate all mechanical parts

Level 3

  • Flexible quarterly scheduling, including (3) Level 1 Plans and (1) Level 2 Plans
  • Contact resistance test with digital low resistance ohmmeter (DLRO)
  • Review equipment to determine onsite parts inventory
  • All infrared images provided

Switchgear

  • Clean of interior and exterior
  • Tighten control connections
  • Inspect PLC and station batteries
  • Perform insulation resistance test and functional testing

Circuit Breakers

Low Voltage

  • Service on molded-case and air frame, both draw outs or fixed mounted.  Located in switchgear, switchboards, generators and more.
  • Perform maintenance, including inspection, cleaning, lubrication, repair, recondition, breaker replacement
  • Maintenance testing programs
  • Emergency service
  • Measurement of contact and insulation resistance
  • Secondary / primary injection testing

Medium Voltage

  • Maintenance testing on vacuum and air breakers, including visual and mechanical inspections
  • Testing by measuring resistance across contacts
  • Measure insulation resistance phase to phase and phase to ground
  • Perform vacuum bottle integrity or test contacts with DC Hi-pot tester

Protective Relays

  • Clean and inspect relay, as well as case
  • Download and verify all settings are in accordance with NETA specs and manufacturer’s recommendations

Batteries

  • All battery systems, including UPS and Switchgear battery banks
  • All battery types, including vented lead-acid, valve regulated lead acid, and nickel-cadmium batteries.
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual programs available
  • Visual inspection on battery and rack. Check for cracks, leaks, loose connections.  Clean as needed.
  • Inspect flame arresters.
  • Inspect electrolyte levels and add distilled water as needed
  • Measure charger output voltage and current
  • Test the condition of the charger by measuring ripple current
  • Measure float and cell voltage and inter-cell connection resistance
  • Perform specific gravity test
  • Recommend batter impedance test (internal ohmic test) instead of capacity test.  Test can be performed without taking the system off line or causing any disruption. Impedance testing doesn’t shorten the life of a battery like a deep discharge can do with captivity testing.

Infrared Scanning

  • Predictive maintenance tool that measures your entire electrical system.
  • Identifies hot spots in an electrical system that were caused by issues such as loose connections, corrosion, overloads, undersized systems, and insulation break downs.
  • Performed without shutting down or interrupting your business’ operation
