Military Makeover Show Features Carter Machinery
9/1/21 – We are excited and honored following our recent feature on Military Makeover: Operation Career. If you’re familiar with Military Makeover, you’ll know that legendary talk show host Montel Williams leads the show’s mission of transforming the homes and lives of military families across the country. On Operation Career, Montel spotlights companies that actively recruit and hire veterans. With approximately 10 percent of the Carter team being made up of military veterans, it’s not surprising that the show’s producers reached out to us to see if we’d want to participate.
Our segment features three Carter Machinery team members discussing their respective military careers, what brought them to Carter Machinery, and how our company enables them and our other veterans to have long, successful careers in the civilian world.
One important facet of our veteran hiring initiatives and apprenticeship program is our partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense’s SkillBridge program. The DOD describes it as “an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences.” We are very proud to be a SkillBridge employer, as this valuable program helps our veterans successfully transition from the military back to civilian life. Carter’s partnership with SkillBridge is the result of hard work on our part to meet its many requirements, starting with our registered apprenticeship program, our affiliation with the U.S. Department of Labor, and in turn the Veteran’s Administration, which approved the use of GI benefits to help supplement the transition training for our veterans.
