Electronic Logging Device Mandate
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) announced on March 12, 2014 a rule to mandate electronic logging devices. The effective date is December 18, 2017, which means time is running out for fleet compliance. This new law includes a number of provisions intended to help reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities involving large trucks and buses by holding motor carriers and drivers to the highest safety standards while removing the highest risk drivers, vehicles, and carriers from the roads.
